The “Recycled Art Frame”

Madera Wood’s first collaboration project interestingly developed into a lifelong business partnership. We contacted Windward Side Photography for professional headshots and began discussing the recycled wood project. This piece of work was different, at least for us. The artist wanted their work to encompass conservation while demonstrating their ability to cross into other mediums. There had to be a way to marry them. The frame we created allows the art to do the talking while also making a statement itself, a dynamic duo like Batman and Robin. The client chose a recycled pallet to make the outer frame that needed to be washed and treated to stabilize the wood. The inner frame made of poplar draws focus to the art inside. The artwork inside the frame is printed on canvas, wrapped, and framed with the hand-cut painted turtle laid on top to finalize the piece. Hopefully, this is the first of many collaborations, as we like to have friends around while we work.
